Is it gonna replace every tool out there? No, not really, its more aimed towards beginners/intermediate level compositors, although in the right hands it can really shine. It's good because it speeds up most of the time consuming things you do while doing any sort of vfx work. I'm basically trying to figure out where all of these tools fall on the spectrum of "nice preset/one-click things" to "very powerful tools for high end VFX which I really should have".Īnd small thing, but does anyone know if RG Corner Pin is being deprecated in favor of King Pin? Should I stop using that to make sure my projects will still work in a few years or will RG Corner Pin stay supported? How do people feel about the new VFX Suite? Worth it? It sounds like I have most of those effects elsewhere, but they do talk them up a lot which makes me wonder if I'm missing out on better versions :)įor example, are VFX Chromatic Displacement and VFX Optical Glow better than say uni.Prism Displacement and other glow tools like Deep Glow (from AE Scripts)? Does one need Knoll Light Factory in addition to Optical Flares?Īs someone who builds a lot of complex VFX comps with glow, light wrap, etc., manually, I'm a little suspicious of VFX Supercomp, but it also sounds like it might be a huge time saver if it does a good job, and is easy/smooth to work with. I already have and make huge use of Universe, Trapcode and Keying Suite. I'm a little behind, and looking at Red Giant Complete.
